Bill C-43 , The Faster Removal of Foreign Criminals, if passed, will force the deportation of non-Canadians who have been convicted of a crime and sentenced to six months or more in jail. The bill will also limit avenues for appeals.

The Bill also proposes increasing penalties for those that cheat the system. It also includes measures that allow the immigration minister to decide who can enter the country. One measure would give the minister the power to deny someone entry or temporary resident status for up to three years on the basis of public policy considerations.
